Private car-CNG autorickshaw collision k-ills 2 in Habiganj
Two people were killed in a head-on collision between a private car and a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw in Habiganj's Nabiganj upazila. 5 people including women and children were injured in this incident.
The accident took place at Fultali Bazar area of Ghaznaipur Union of Nabiganj Upazila on Dhaka-Sylhet highway around 3 pm on Wednesday. The deceased are Manik Mia (70), son of deceased Abdul Sattar of Muraura village of Ghaznaipur Union and Sohel Mia (42), son of Chanu Mia of Badshargaon village of Chunarughat upazila.
According to the police and locals, a private car going from Dhaka to Sylhet collided head-on with a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw coming from the opposite direction as soon as it reached Phultali Bazar area. 5 people including women, children and old people were seriously injured. The highway police, fire service and local people rescued the injured and took them to Nabiganj Upazila Health Complex and Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital where doctors on duty declared Manik Mia and Sohail Mia dead.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sherpur Highway Police Station Parimal Chandra Dey said that two vehicles involved in the accident have been recovered. Legal action in this regard is under process.
