A flood of joy in the tea garden with the desired rainfall

It has rained in every district of Sylhet division including Sreemangal for the last two days. Experts in tea are of the opinion that the desired rainfall especially in the current season will bring benefits for tea. Punning (pre-pruning) tea plants will start budding faster. Due to this rain, tea people are very happy. There is a flood of joy in the tea industry.

The target for tea production in 2023 is more than 102 million kg. The target for 2022 was 100 million kg. It's gone down a bit since then due to labor strikes. Tea workers are out of work for three-four weeks, affecting tea production targets.

19.3 mm rainfall was recorded in three phases from 7 am to 3 pm on Sunday in tea industry areas including Sreemangal. 6.4 mm was recorded till 3 am today, Monday (March 20).

When asked about this, Bangladesh Tea Research Institute Director (Acting) Mohammad Ismail Hossain said, Kankhit rainfall in the current season will bring benefits for tea. The target for tea production in this season of 2023 has been set at more than 102 million kg. This rain in March is a boon to our tea connoisseurs. Tipping will be appropriate. As a result, the quality of tea will remain intact. I am hopeful that the tea production will exceed the target if there is rain in the desired manner.

Major General Ashraful Islam, Chairman of the Tea Board, said that the rains have brought benefits to the tea industry. Due to the rains, the new buds will soon appear on the tea plants. Tipping will be faster. Then plucking will also begin. If the weather is favorable, tea production will be above the target level, he said.
