Long line of voters at polling station in Sylhet
Polling is going on in 8 unions of two upazilas of Sylhet district. Voting started at 8 am on Thursday (March 16) and will continue till 4 pm. Long queues of voters were observed at the polling stations of various unions.
The unions elected in Sylhet are - Khadimnagar, Khadimpara and Tukerbazar of Sylhet Sadar Upazila and Fenchuganj Sadar, Maizgaon, Ghilachra, Uttar Kushiara and Uttar Fenchuganj Union of Fenchuganj Upazila.
Various polling stations of these unions were visited, with long queues of voters in most of the centres. Along with male voters, there is also a long line of female voters.
A voter of Chatal Government Primary School Polling Station of Tukerbazar Union said, 'I was able to cast my vote at 8:30 in the morning without any trouble. There was no problem. Now I am waiting for the victory of the preferred candidate.
In Sadar and Fenchuganj upazilas, voting is being done through EVM system. Several voters expressed their enthusiasm by voting in EVMs.
A voter said, 'My first vote in EVM. It feels good to vote. I can vote very easily. Voting is going on well
Police, BGB, RAB and Ansar forces are in the field. Besides, some executive magistrates are performing duties in two upazilas.
Fenchuganj Upazila Election Officer said that fair and peaceful polling has been going on since morning. Voters can exercise their right to vote without fear.
