Shireen elected first Bangladeshi woman councilor in Chester City

Shireen Akhter of Sylhet has been elected the first Bangladeshi woman councilor in the local elections of Chester City, UK. She has won the election by participating in the election from the Labor Party and is the first Bangladeshi councilor from the Upton area of Chester City.

It is known that Shirin Akhtar of Bangladeshi origin is the second daughter of Shah Hushiar Ullya and Parveen Akhtar of North Dharmada village of Vishwanath Upazila in Sylhet. Although born in the UK, she studied at Vishwanath Model Government Primary School for two years as a child. Later, she moved to the UK with her parents and completed her Masters there. Currently he is involved in various social activities.

As Shireen Akhtar was elected, there was joy and excitement among the Bengali community as well as her relatives in her native land. He won and brightened the country's image abroad.

Meanwhile, leaders of the Bengali community including Rezwana Siddique Tulip, the granddaughter of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, participated in Shirin Akhter's election campaign. Cowlinsal was elected from Upton area in the Chester city election in the United Kingdom on May 4.

Shirin Akhter's uncle Shah Babul Ullya said, "We want to see Bangladeshis in important places in other countries like Britain in the future. I wish all the best for those who have won this election, including Shirin. Let the reputation of Bangladesh reach another height through them."

In this regard, Shireen Akhtar's father Shah Hushiar Ullya said, first of all I am thanking God. From Bangladesh to the UK, our children are being elected mayors and councillors, which is a real joy. Congratulations to all the winners including my daughter. Let's pray for her that she can fulfill her duties properly.
