Nine people died in a fire at a furniture factory in Hufoof, Saudi Arabia's Dammam. Seven of them are Bangladeshis. The incident of fire occurred in the industrial area of Hufuf city in Saudi on Friday (July 14) evening local time. This has been confirmed by the Bangladesh Embassy in Riyadh.

The UK government have announced on 13 June 2022 in the Government Food Strategy policy that they will allow 38,000 temporary migrants to work in the UK in horticulture sectors and 2000 visas for working in UK poultry sector. This visa route will continue from 2022 to 2024 and people living outside the UK can apply to work in the UK in horticulture sector for a maximum six months in any 12-month period whereas in poultry sector they are valid to work from 18 October to 31 December each year. The minimum wage for a seasonal worker is £10.42 per hour.
