Air fares for Hajj are not decreasing

The air fare for Hajj is the lowest and the latest. We have reduced it as much as possible. It can't be done less than this'- Biman Bangladesh Airlines Managing Director (MD) and CEO Shafiul Azim said this in response to journalists' questions.

On Sunday (March 19) he spoke to reporters about the Hajj fare. The press conference was organized at Kurmitola Balaka office of Biman.

Biman's MD said, We have been working on Haj flight management for 3 months. Our first proposal was 2 lakh 10 thousand 338 taka. Later it was reduced to about 1 lakh 98 thousand rupees. The National Executive Committee has decided this fare. One of the reasons for the increase in rent this time is the increase in taxes, the increase in the dollar rate, the increase in the price of jet fuel. We have no hand in raising rents.

This question was asked 3/4 times in the MDK press conference, "Is the air fare for Hajj going down or not?" He answered this indirectly. He said, "The rent charged for Hajj is the lowest and the latest. We have reduced it as much as possible. Can't do less than this.'

In response to the same question, he said, "The air fare charged for the Hajj flight is a standard air fare."

He said, 'Hajj package has been finalized. Aviation is only one sector there. We gave the minimum. After that, we have nothing more to do.

It should be noted that this time the cost of performing Hajj under the government management has been fixed at 6 lakh 83 thousand 18 taka. Six lakh 72 thousand 618 taka has been determined for private management. Compared to last year, both the packages have increased by about one and a half lakh taka. This time the Hajj flight fare of Biman has been increased by about 58 thousand taka to 1 lakh 98 thousand taka.
