BNP allowed to hold grand rally at Nayapaltan
Dhaka Metropolitan Police has allowed BNP to hold its Friday's grand rally in front of the party's Nayapaltan central office in Dhaka on 23 conditions.
Awami League's three associate bodies - Chhatra League, Jubo League and Swechchhasebak League - were also given permission to hold a peace rally at the south gate of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque on the same conditions.
Confirming the permission, DMP Commissioner Khandker Golam Faruque on Thursday said there is no threat around the rallies but security is being beefed up centering the programs.
The conditions, however, include all activities of BNP's rally must be limited to the middle place between Police Hospital crossing and Nightingale intersection while the AL associate bodies must hold rally at the south gate of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque.
Earlier on Monday, BNP wrote Dhaka Metropolitan Police seeking permission of holding the grand rally at Nayapaltan or Suhrawardy Udyan but DMP gave permission to hold it at Golapbagh ground.
On July 22, Mirza Fakhrul announced to hold a grand rally in Dhaka on July 27 as part of the party's one-point movement with the goal to oust the government to hold the next general election under a neutral caretaker government.
