America does not stand for any political party: Peter Haas
US Ambassador to Bangladesh Peter Haas said that the United States does not stand for any political party. He said this during an exchange of views with reporters after a courtesy meeting with General Secretary Obaidul Quader at 23 Bangabandhu Avenue party office on Thursday (August 3) at 12:30 p.m.
The US ambassador said, I have spoken to Awami League, other parties and law enforcement agencies. I have informed everyone about the US policy. I have asked everyone including Awami League to make the next election free, fair and impartial.
The United States expects fair, impartial elections. For this purpose, Ambassador Peter Haas also said that he has held a meeting with the political parties and law enforcement agencies of Bangladesh.
Earlier, the meeting started on the eighth floor of the Awami League's central office at 11:30 a.m. It ends at 12:30 pm.
Awami League presidium member Farooq Khan, International Affairs Secretary Dr. Obaidul Quader attended the meeting. Shammi Ahmed, Office Secretary Barrister Biplab Barua, Information and Research Secretary. Salim Mahmud and Central Executive Member Professor Mohammad Ali Arafat.
One of his representatives attended the meeting with Peter Haas. Last Tuesday (August 1) the US ambassador met with the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal at the Agargaon election building. After the meeting, the ambassador told reporters that the United States pre-assessment team will come to Bangladesh next October to see the election environment.
