Bongo Bazar fire : Traders are removing the remaining goods

Although 24 hours have passed since the fire in Bangabazar Market, the fire service continues to extinguish the water on the 5th and upper floors of Annexco Tower. Meanwhile sacks are being dropped one by one from the 3rd, 4th and 5th floors. After the fire, the goods, including the remaining clothes, are basically being thrown down in sacks.

On Wednesday (April 5) morning, it was seen in front of Annexco Tower in Bangbazar, rows of these sacks of clothes were placed on the road. Little by little, the workers are loading the goods from above and throwing them down. And downstairs, some of the shop owners are waiting with vans, some with pickups.

Almach Ali, the manager of the clothes shop on the 3rd floor of Annexco Tower, said that the market has more garment products and sari shops. Everything has been burnt for many people, and some goods have remained. So everyone is moving their remaining belongings. Workers put these goods in sacks and throw them down. And they are being collected from below and taken elsewhere in vans, pickups.

Tuhin Ahmed, an employee of Dolan House in the market, said that since the goods cannot be brought down from the 4th/5th floor by stairs, they are filled in sacks from above and thrown directly on the road. Above is just shrouded in smoke. In the meantime, people are climbing up and taking down mainly the goods that are somewhat better than their burnt goods.

Faisal Hasan, a shop worker of Pekeshman Market below, said that the goods are being collected on the 5th floor with the help of our shop staff. Above is still dark with smoke. In the meantime, the remaining goods are being packed and put down in sacks. And below we are waiting to take them in a van to a temporary place. Hundreds of such sacks have been piled up by various shopkeepers on top of the road divider. Later they are being transported in vans or pickups.

Incidentally, the fire service received information about the fire in Bangabazar at 6:10 am on Tuesday. They reached the spot in no time. After about 6 and a half hours, the fire was brought under control with the efforts of 50 units of the fire service.
