Young and talented Bangladeshi entrepreneur Sheikh Aliur Rahman has been awarded the 'Order of the British Empire' by King Charles III of Britain. His name has been published in the first 'New Year Honors List' of 2023 on the British Government website. He was given this honor for his contribution to the young generation and the tea industry. This list was officially released on 30th December 2022.

Aliur Rahman is the Chief Executive Officer of 'London Tea Exchange'. He said, I am very grateful to receive the 'Order of the British Empire' from King Charles III. I am indebted to many around me who have supported me over the years. To my family and all of you who have been by my side, thank you so much for your encouragement, friendship and support.

Reminiscing about her childhood, she said, "I remember how difficult it was growing up and that's why I tried to help the youth through many charities, including the Patchwork Foundation, Capital Kids Cricket and the British Bangladesh Fashion Council. He further said, many of you are aware of the campaign I have been running to help tea workers get fair wages. The tea industry employs more than 120 million people, most of whom are women. I want to dedicate my respect to them.

They are the hardest working people in the world yet still live in poverty.

Outlining his future work, he said, "It is up to our generation to highlight the human plight." I hope you will all join me in promoting fair wages and building a fair society worldwide. He quoted Nelson Mandela as saying, "As long as there is poverty, injustice and inequality in our world, none of us can rest."

Sheikh Aliur Rahman once worked in a leading investment company. As part of that, he has to travel extensively in Europe, Africa, Middle East and Asia. It was during this trip that he became attracted to tea. He then founded the London Tea Exchange in 2003 and invested heavily in collecting some of the world's rarest teas. Born in Britain, Aliur Rahman's parents hail from Uttar Dharmada village in Biswanath Upazila, Sylhet, Bangladesh. He is married and has one son and two daughters.
