Ctg airport suspends flight operations for 36hrs
Authorities of Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram have suspended its flight operations for 36 hours due to the extremely severe cyclonic storm Mocha in the Bay of Bengal.
Flight operations at Chattogram airport will remain suspended from 6:00am today, Shah Amanat International Airport Director Wing Commander Taslim Ahmed confirmed The Daily Star this morning.
Cox's Bazar Airport will also remain closed from 7:00am today to 7:00pm tomorrow.
Meanwhile, maritime ports of Cox's Bazar, Chattogram and Payra have been advised to lower local warning Signal Number 4 and instead hoist Great Danger Signal 8, according to Bangladesh Meteorological Department.
The coastal districts of Cox's Bazar, Chattogram, Feni, Noakhali, Laxmipur, Chandpur, Barishal, Bhola, Patuakhali, Jhalakathi, Pirojpur, Barguna and their offshore islands and chars will come under Great Danger Signal Number 8.
All fishing boats and trawlers over the north Bay of Bengal have been advised to take shelter immediately, according to a BMD bulletin.
