315 extremists surrender to return to normal life
Some 315 extremists of Sirajganj, Pabna, Bogura, Meherpur, Kushtia, Rajbari and Tangail have laid down to return to normal life through surrendering their arms to Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal.
They surrendered at Headquarters of Rab-12 in Sirajganj on Sunday (May 21).
Speaking as the chief guest at the event, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said, “You know that since the 80s, proletarians and extremists have built bases in some districts of this area due to poor communication systems.
Later in 1999, holding the hand of the then Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the extremists came back to the path of light with the slogan ‘Leave the life of terror, build an enlightened life’. Just as the Prime Minister had rehabilitated everyone then, the Prime Minister told me before coming today that you who have surrendered will be given full support including financial assistance.
