Eid-ul-Azha: Advance train ticket sale likely from June 14
The sale of advance train tickets on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha is likely to begin on June 14, according to a decision of the Ministry of Railways.
In order to facilitate advance sales of Eid train tickets, a meeting was held at Bangladesh Railway Bhaban in Dhaka on Wednesday in the presence of Railways Minister Nurul Islam Sujon. According to the decision, 100% of tickets will be sold online. Standing tickets will be issued at four counters. The advance tickets purchased for the Eid trip cannot be returned.
Apart from this, the weekly holidays of all intercity trains are being cancelled from June 24 to the day before Eid-ul-Azha. Bangladesh Railway has prepared a plan assuming that the Eid-ul-Azha may be observed on June 29 or 30.
An official press conference regarding the advance train ticket sale will be held on May 30. The train tickets for June 24, 25, 26, 27, and 28 will be available on June 14, 15, 16, 17 and 18 respectively.
Meanwhile, return tickets for July 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 will be available on June 22, 23, 24, 25 and 26. It was decided in the meeting to sell tickets in two shifts to prevent the railway server from going down due to the pressure of excess passengers.
As a result, tickets for all intercity trains plying in the western regions will be sold from 8am onwards. And the tickets for all intercity trains running in the eastern regions will be sold from 12pm.
