Farce, swindling are principle of BNP`s ill-politics: Quader
Awami League (AL) General Secretary Obaidul Quader today said the farce and swindling are the principle of BNP's ill-politics. "They (BNP leaders) are perplexed now in the maze of fraudulence after cheating the country's people time and again," he said in a statement.
Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, said the people have lost their faith in the BNP due to its hypocrisy, checking and deceitful political tactics. As the BNP played game over the country's democracy, constitution and voting rights of people time and again, they have rejected them, he said.
The AL general secretary said the ruling party has never cheated the people, while the relationship between the AL and the country's people has been established on the base of history.
The Awami League has kept the pledges that it made to the people and that is why they have repeatedly voted the AL to bring to power, he said.
BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has been playing the "broken record" over the obsolete caretaker government issue, Quader said.
He said the caretaker government is a live issue only to the BNP and the undemocratic forces surrounding it, but the caretaker government is a dead issue to all people having democratic values at national and international levels.
The road transport and bridges minister said the court settled the caretaker government issue a long ago and no matter how much the BNP leaders shout, this dead system will never return.
"We want to say clearly that no undemocratic system can be a safeguard of the democratic values of this country," he said.
Quader said the BNP did not get more than 1/10 seats in the 2008 parliamentary elections and the BNP leaders have not overcome the trauma of that nightmare even today.
So, he said, they are talking perplexed about the AL's possible success in the next general elections.
The country's people have repeatedly chosen the leadership of Bangabandhu's daughter, Sheikh Hasina, to secure their future as they know that the development and progress of this country will continue only if the Sheikh Hasina-led government remains in power, the AL general secretary said.
He said Mirza Fakhrul is making strange and fabricated statements over dialogue.
As long as they (BNP leaders) will not refrain from its ill-efforts to halt the democratic continuity of this country and make elections and electoral system questionable, there will be no question of dialogue, Quader said.
He said the BNP is trying to build unity with various so-called political parties. "We have seen the form of their unity in the past. The BNP participated in the 2008 national elections with a hotchpotch unity but people did not trust them," he added.
The AL general secretary said the people have given their firm support to the Sheikh Hasina's visionary leadership time and again and the AL will win with the absolute support of the people in the future too.
