KCC polls: AL mayoral candidate Abul Khaleque wins
Awami league-backed mayoral candidate Talukder Abdul Khaleque won in the Khulna City Corporation election with a sweeping 1,54,825 votes.
Returning Officer Md Alauddin made the unofficial announcement at Khulna Shilpakala Auditorium around 8:45pm, reports our local correspondent.
Among the rival candidates, Md Abdul Awal from Islami Andolan Bangladesh got 60,064 votes, Md Shafiqul Islam Madhu from Jatiya Party 18,007 votes, SM Sabbir Hossain from Zaker Party received 6,096 votes, according to the returning officer.
The total number of voters in KCC is 5,35,529. A total of 2,56,433 votes were cast, Md Alauddin added. Voter turnout was 47.88 percent.
