Eid holidays extended by a day
Eid-ul-Azha holiday has been extended by one day, making it a four-day celebration.
The decision was made during a cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Initially planned for June 28 to 30, the holiday will now start from June 27, potentially extending to June 30 if Eid-ul-Azha falls on June 29 based on moon sighting.
Additionally, July 1, being a weekend, adds an extra day, resulting in a five-day Eid holiday for government officials this year.
Earlier, the government had extended the holiday by one day in last Eid-ul-Fitr as well.
