EU delegation in meeting with BNP leaders
The European Union's election exploratory mission has started a meeting with the BNP leaders at the party Chairperson Khaleda Zia's Gulshan office.
The meeting started at 9:00am, said Shairul Kabir Khan, a member of the BNP chairperson's media wing.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Organising Secretary Shama Obayed, standing committee member Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, BNP Chairperson's adviser Ismail Zabihullah, and human rights affairs secretary Asaduzzaman Asad are present in the meeting, he added.
The six-member EU delegation will talk about the next national election slated for January next year. The party is likely to reiterate its position that it would not take part in the parliamentary polls if it is not held under a non-party interim administration, sources said earlier.
The BNP will also give details of the last two general elections held in 2014 and 2018. The visiting election exploratory mission will also hold meetings with the ruling Awami League, Jatiya Party and several other political parties later in the day.
