Shaukat expelled from BNP

BNP vice chairman and journalist leader Shaukat Mahmood has been expelled from BNP. Today Tuesday (March 22) he was expelled from the team.

Taiful Islam Tipu, Joint Office Secretary of BNP, said in a press release that the Vice Chairman of the BNP, Shaukat Mahmood, has been expelled from all levels, including primary membership, as per the decision of the Standing Committee of the BNP, based on specific allegations of indulging in activities contrary to party discipline.

According to a BNP source, Shaukat Mahmood was also given a show cause notice for allegedly indulging in activities against the party's discipline. He was initially warned then. But still, on March 16, he organized a dinner with some politicians and bureaucrats at a hotel in the capital under the banner of an organization called Jatiya Insaf Qaim Committee along with columnist Farhad Mazhar. Which he did not tell BNP. Due to this he was expelled from the team.

BNP sought an explanation from Shaukat Mahmood for ignoring the party decision in early April last year and holding a rally under the banner of professionals. When asked about this, Shaukat Mahmood said, BNP sent me a letter asking for an explanation. Five days have been fixed for this. Since I am a party, I will reply in writing to the letter within the stipulated time.
