Tazia procession begins from Old Dhaka’s Hussaini Dalan
Tazia processions for the holy Ashura started from Hussaini Dalan Imambara in Old Dhaka in the capital. Thousands of people in the Shia community took part in the procession at 10 am on Saturday (July 29). There is strict police security to ensure the smooth completion of the procession.
Meanwhile, on the occasion of Holy Ashura, the Hussaini Dalan Imambara of Old Dhaka’s Lalbagh, Bara Katara Imambara and various events centered around the Shia community and the traditional Tazia (mourning) procession have been surrounded by tight security. No one is allowed to enter the area with bags or unnecessary items. Various units of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) including SWAT are working to strengthen security.
All kinds of preparations have been arranged by DMP for the smooth observance of the day. Police and intelligence activities have been stepped up to avoid any untoward incident on the day of Ashura.
Law and order forces have banned the carrying of daggers, sharp weapons, scissors, spears, axes, swords and sticks to complete the Tazia procession properly. At the same time, fireworks and crackers have also been banned.
