Sagar-Runi murder: Probe report submission deferred for 100 times
The date of submission of investigation report in journalist couple Sagar Sarwar and Mehrun Rooney's murder case has been delayed for a century. The court fixed September 11 as the date for submitting the new investigation report.
Monday (August 7) was fixed as the date for submitting the investigation report in the case. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Rashidul Alam fixed a new date for submitting the report as the investigation agency RAB did not submit the report. As a result, the date of submission of investigation report is delayed for 100 times.
On February 11, 2012, Sagar Sarwar, news editor of Machranga Television and Mehrun Rooney, senior reporter of ATN Bengal, were killed. After that, Rooney's brother Nausher Alam Roman filed a murder case in Sherbangla Nagar police station.
Initially, the investigating officer of the case was a sub-inspector (SI) of that police station. After four days, the investigation of this sensational murder case was handed over to the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DB).
After more than two months of investigation, DB failed to solve the mystery. Later, on the order of the High Court, the investigation of the murder case was handed over to RAB on April 18 of the same year.
