Dengue: 8 d e a d, 2,201 hospitalised in 24 hours
At least eight dengue patients died while 2,201 others were hospitalised in 24 hours till 8 am today (August 24), said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
In the 24 hours, 926 dengue patients were admitted in Dhaka while 1,275 dengue patients were admitted outside the capital, said the DGHS release.
Besides, this year a total 514 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh till today.
According to DGHS, this year till today 3,763 patients are undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka while 4,179 other patients are being treated in hospitals outside Dhaka.
A total of 1,08,630 were infected by the Dengue virus this year. Of them, 51,953 were in Dhaka and 56,667 were outside of the capital, according to the DGHS press release.
As many as 1,00,174 Dengue patients recovered this year. Of them, 47,810 were released from hospitals in Dhaka while 52,364 others left hospitals outside the capital.
Last year, a total of 281 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh. However, 28,429 patients were admitted to different hospitals with dengue while 28,265 patients recovered in last year.
