11 dengue patients d i e, 2,327 hospitalised in a day
Eleven dengue patients died and 2,327 people hospitalized with the viral fever across the country in last 24 hours till Sunday morning. With the new casualties, the death toll from the mosquito-borne disease rose to 548 this year, according to the Directorate General of Health Services. Among the new patients, some 920 people admitted to the hospitals in Dhaka and 407 patients outside it.
It said 1,14,511 people, so far, have been infected with the disease till August 27. Of the 11 deaths, 8 reported in Dhaka and three from outside the capital. Last year, a total of 281 people died from dengue.
Some 10,5664 patients were released from different hospitals this year of the total patients. Some 8,299 dengue patients are undergoing treatment at different hospitals. Of them, 3,945 are in Dhaka while 4,354 are outside the capital city, it added.
According to the DGHS statement, among the total dengue positive cases, 43,197 are female and 71, 314 are male while 318 deaths from dengue are female and 230 male.
