BNP will not go to EC dialogue
he Election Commission (EC) has sent a letter to the BNP calling for a dialogue ahead of the upcoming 12th parliamentary elections. The letter was given to BNP on Thursday (March 23) afternoon. But BNP rejected the call for dialogue. In a response after receiving EC's letter, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, BNP's position on this matter is very clear. We will not go to any discussion in Election Commission.
Mirza Fakhrul claimed that discussions with the EC about the elections are futile until a decision is made on the government during the election. He said, we think that there will be no neutral and fair elections under this government.
Before this, BNP did not participate in the dialogue between various parties with the present Election Commission. They did not even participate in the dialogue with the President before the formation of the Election Commission.
Since last December 10, BNP has been simultaneously protesting for 10-point demands including resignation of the government, dissolution of parliament, formation of neutral caretaker government and new election commission.
