Biden`s selfie with PM Hasina signals BNP`s retreat : Quader
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Saturday said that US President Joe Biden’s selfie with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina during the G20 summit in New Delhi is a huge setback for BNP.
He made this remark during a peace rally in Dhaka’s Bangabandhu Avenue. The peace rally was organized by the Dhaka South City unit of Awami League. “BNP had been eyeing US President Joe Biden, anticipating a shift in his support from the Awami League to BNP,” he said.
“However, seeing Biden take a selfie with our prime minister speaks volumes. What path will the BNP choose now? Their retreat has already begun," he said. On BNP's mass rally, Quader said: "It does not seem many are attending their mass rally. Their leaders and activists should stop looking to the US for support.” The bridges minister criticized the BNP, suggesting they were responsible for propagating falsehoods throughout the nation.
"BNP is a party that spreads lies throughout Bangladesh. Because of BNP, these lies are everywhere. Mirza Fakhrul went to Singapore for meetings and, after returning, started a one-step movement. This movement is a sham," he reiterated.
The Awami League general secretary said that BNP's march has no public support, and America is distancing from BNP. “Foreign visitors in Bangladesh is a green signal for Awami League,” he said adding that following Bangabandhu's principles, Awami League wants to be friends with everyone.
