Naming of roads after brave freedom fighters

Upazila administration has named 30 roads after brave freedom fighters in Sunderganj upazila of Gaibandha. Freedom fighters can go to their homes through these roads. At the beginning of each road, a plaque with the name and photo of the freedom fighter has been constructed.

According to the office of the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO), there are a total of 15 unions and 1 municipality in the upazila. There are 272 brave freedom fighters in the upazila. 135 of them are still alive. In the first phase, roads have been named after 30 people. The work of 14 has been completed yesterday till Wednesday. Rest of the road work is going on. Initiatives will be taken to name the roads after others in phases.

About this, UNO Mohammad Al Maruf said that the brave freedom fighters brought the flag for the country. They are leaving one by one. This is an attempt to remember them.

Two roads in each union have been named after brave freedom fighters. It costs 70 thousand taka. This money is being spent from 1 percent by transfer of immovable property (part of Union Parishad) by decision of Upazila Parishad meeting.

The roads are Bir Muktijodha Abdul Awal Mia Road and Abdul Jalil Mia Road in Bamondanga Union of Upazila, Tofazzal Hossain Road and Abdul Quduch Mia Road in Sonora Union, Abdul Latif Sarkar Road and Abul Hossain Road in Tarapur Union, Hafizur Rahman Road and Ferdous Ali Road in Belka Union, Dahband. Enamul Haque Road and Nurul Islam Road in Union, Shafiqul Islam Road and Santosh Kumar Chowdhury Road in Sarbanand Union, Ashraful Islam Road and Shahjalal Ahmed Road in Ramjivan Union, Miti Abbas Ali Road and Hafiz Uddin Mondal Road in Dhopadanga Union, Munchur Ali Road and Miti Manoj in Chaparhati Union. Kumar Roy Road, Manoranjan Barman Road and Zahir Uddin Road in Shantiram Union, Azizur Rahman Road and Amjad Hossain Road in Haripur Union, Mofizal Mistry Road and Nuruzzaman Mia Road in Kanchibari Union, Sreepur Union. Chaleman Road and Abdul Mannan Akand Road, Dewan Abdul Hamid Road and Nurul Haque Road in Chandipur Union and Amjad Hossain Road and Layek Ali Khan Mintu Road in Kapashia Union.

Emdadul Haque, the former commander of the upazila unit of the Freedom Fighters Sangsad, said that the road is being named after the brave freedom fighters. I feel proud of this.
