Sheikh Hasina will be elected for the fourth term : Bloomberg

The world famous news agency Bloomberg has indicated that the government led by Sheikh Hasina will be elected for the fourth consecutive term in the next general election of Bangladesh. At the same time, the organization also appreciated Sheikh Hasina's steps for economic stability.

This news agency on international finance has written in an article that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has maintained the economic stability of the country with 'timely reform measures' despite the global economic crisis. She (Sheikh Hasina) is expected to win the fourth consecutive term.

At the same time, it suggested that Sheikh Hasina should make further reforms to get full funding from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

The article says, 'Sheikh Hasina is likely to win a fourth consecutive term in the January 2024 national elections not because many of her opponents are in jail or in legal trouble. Rather, it is widely expected because of its success in ensuring economic stability.

Bloomberg published the article titled 'Bangladesh Leader Bets IMF-Mandated Rigor Will Pay Off in Polls' with two subheadings against the backdrop of the South Asian country's timely reforms to secure economic stability ahead of the upcoming national elections.

It also said that government party leaders around the world often hold back on implementing reforms agreed with the IMF, fearing defeat at the ballot box. But Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is an exception.

The South Asian country has turned around its swift implementation of the IMF mandate, while Pakistan is still reeling from energy subsidies. Sri Lanka has delayed local municipal elections. Because they raised taxes and interest rates last week to get IMF funds,' the article states.

Bangladesh was the last of the three South Asian countries to seek IMF assistance last July. The country received its first loan approval after a sharp rise in fuel prices. Sheikh Hasina did not hesitate to take this step.
