Bongo Bazar fire: 5 thousand traders are affected

5000 businessmen of 6 markets around Bongo Bazar have been affected by today's fire, said State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Dr. Md. Enamur Rahman. He said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will cooperate in the rehabilitation of the affected businessmen.

After meeting with the Mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation, Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Tapos, he informed the reporters this information.

The state minister said that around six markets, including Bongo Bazar, were damaged by fire today. We have come to know that 5000 small traders have been completely affected. They bought many goods on the occasion of Eid. They are completely destroyed. Although many of the goods were recovered and removed by the efforts of the members of the police administration, they were still damaged.

Stating that the cause of the fire is not yet known, he said, the fire service team is working. After any accident an investigation committee is constituted. We will know after investigation. Besides, the Prime Minister himself is coordinating the matter, monitoring and communicating with us all the time. The Prime Minister coordinated with all the members of various organizations.

The state minister said that the prime minister has said that he will work for the rehabilitation of the affected businessmen after the investigation and assessment of the damage. And we have given instructions from our ministry to the District Commissioner, to pay fifteen thousand rupees to each of the injured immediately.

He further said that a special team has been formed to treat the injured. We will describe this incident as an accident until now. I don't think it would be right to give any definite opinion till the inquiry report comes.
