Musa is a third-term Michigan Hamtramic City Councilman
Bangladeshi-American Abu Ahmed Musa is the new councilman of Hamtramic City, Michigan State, USA. Councilwoman Amanda Zekoski resigned and was replaced by last-election challenger Musa, according to city law. This information was confirmed by the pre-tem mayor of Hamtramic City, Kamrul Hasan. He said Amanda Zekoski's resignation letter was approved at the February 27 city councilor meeting.
Abu Ahmed Musa's swearing-in ceremony will be held at City Hall on Tuesday (March 14) at 7 p.m.
It is known that the last election of Hamtramic City was held on November 2, 2021. In that election Amanda Zekoski was elected with 1860 votes. Muhit Mahmud was the second closest competitor with 1746 votes. Another elected councilman from the same city, Adam Albermecki, recently resigned due to moving to another city. He was then succeeded by his nearest rival, Pr. Muhit Mahmud.
Meanwhile, on February 24, Councilwoman Amanda Zekoski resigned citing personal reasons. He was replaced by the third contender Abu Ahmed Musa who got 1455 votes in the election.
Abu Ahmed Musa is the son of Vadeshwar Purbhag village in Golapganj upazila of Sylhet. He immigrated to America in 1996. Living with family in Michigan since 2010. Worked as a company manager. Studied at MC College, Sylhet. He was elected Hamtramic City's first councilman in 2013. Then he became a councilman for the second time in 2015. He was elected councilman for the third time.
