Hasina-Kishida summit in Tokyo today

Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida are holding a summit meeting in Tokyo on Wednesday (April 26). The meeting is scheduled to start at 7pm Tokyo time. The official announcement of the journey to strategic partnership between the two countries may come from the summit. Dhaka-Tokyo hopes that the relationship between the two countries will become stronger through this.

Sheikh Hasina arrived in Tokyo on Tuesday (April 25) on a four-day visit. When the Prime Minister arrived in Japan, he was given a guard of honour.

The Prime Minister will have a busy time on Wednesday, the second day of his visit to Tokyo. In the afternoon, he will meet with Emperor Naruhito of Japan. After that, the country's Prime Minister will hold a summit with Fumio Kishida in the evening Japan time. After the summit meeting, both sides will sign 8 agreements and memorandum of understanding including defense in the presence of the two heads of government. Later, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her entourage will attend the Japanese Prime Minister's dinner.

Foreign Minister said in a press conference on Monday about the Prime Minister's visit to Japan. AK Abdul Momen said that there will be a formal bilateral summit meeting between the heads of government of the two countries at the office of the Prime Minister of Japan on April 26. At the end of the meeting, in the presence of the two heads of government, about 8 agreements or memorandum of cooperation are likely to be signed between the two countries in the sectors of agriculture, metrorail, industrial upgradation, ship recycling, customs matters, intellectual property, defense cooperation, ICT and cyber security cooperation.

The foreign minister said that during the Prime Minister's visit to Japan, the fact that the relationship between the two countries will be upgraded to a strategic partnership will create an opportunity for more serious discussions. We are hopeful that the Prime Minister's visit will be successful and fruitful.
