Professor Amina Parveen new SUST treasurer

Sylhet Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) has been appointed as the first woman treasurer, Professor Amina Parveen, Head of Department of Social Work.

On Sunday (April 30), the Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Education deleted. The appointment was announced through a notification signed by Rokhchana Begum.

According to the circular, Professor Amina Parveen has been appointed as treasurer for four years by order of the chancellor and president of the university and according to Shahjalal Science and Technology University Act-14 (1) of 1987.

After taking charge as the new treasurer, Professor Amina Parveen said, 'The post of treasurer is a big responsibility for me. I will try to do everything possible for the overall welfare of the university. I want everyone's cooperation and prayers to fulfill this responsibility successfully.

He expressed his gratitude to the President, Prime Minister and University Vice-Chancellor for entrusting him with this responsibility.

It should be noted that Professor Amina Parveen, who was born and raised in Ishwardi Upazila of Pabna District, was a student of Social Work Department of Rajshahi University in 1985-1986 academic year. He completed his master's degree in 1988-1989 academic year from the same university. He completed his International Masters of Science in Social Work (IMSSW) degree in 2007 from the University of Gothenburg, Sweden. He joined the social work department of SUST as a lecturer on April 9, 1996.

Professor Amina Parveen has performed important administrative duties including Vice-President of the University's Teachers' Association, Executive Member, Hall Principal, Syndicate Member, Advisor to various socio-cultural organizations, Head of Social Work Department. Also, she is currently serving as SUST's first female student advice and guidance director.
