Mental health workshop started at Shahjalal University
Shahjalal University of Science and Technology has started a workshop on 'Importance of Mental Health in Academic Life' for first year undergraduate students in 2021-22 session.
The Student Counseling and Guidance Office of the University organized the workshop at 9:30 am on Tuesday in the central auditorium of the University. The workshop will continue till 5 pm.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Farid Uddin Ahmed spoke as the chief guest in the inaugural session under the chairmanship of University Student Counseling and Guidance Director Professor Dr. Rashed Talukder.
Treasurer Professor Amina Parveen spoke as a special guest. Dhaka Medical College Psychiatrist, poet and writer Professor Dr. Anwara Syed Haque spoke as expert special guest.
Fazilatun Nessa, Counseling Psychologist of the university gave a welcome speech. Teachers of various departments and first year students participated in the event.
Organizers said the workshop will discuss the importance of mental health in 4 sessions. One session holds open discussions for students. Dhaka Medical College Psychiatrist Professor Dr. Anwara Syed Haque, SUST Social Work Professor Dr. Tahmina Islam and Counseling Psychologist Fazilatun Nessa.
