37 thousand teachers have not been paid

Salaries of 37,000 primary and pre-primary teachers who were appointed almost a year and a half after the notification have been withheld. The Ministry of Primary and Mass Education could not release their salary even after two and a half months of joining. On the other hand, due to non-payment of salary, their Eid bonus and Baisakh allowance have also been stopped.

Before Eid, there is a rush for Baisakhi allowance and Eid bonus discount. Teachers are in doubt whether this will be possible in the end. For this, the ministry is blaming the directorate and the directorate is blaming the ministry.

It is known that this year, in the largest circular in the history of the country, around 37,500 teachers were appointed at once. The Department of Primary Education and the Ministry of Public Education could not prepare the pay sheets of the teachers and send them to the Ministry of Finance even after two and a half months of recruitment.

As there is concern among teachers across the country and discussion has started on this, the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, DPE and Ministry of Finance are going to hold a meeting tomorrow on Sunday. Related sources said that the meeting will discuss the payment of salaries and allowances to teachers before Eid.

Meanwhile, in the face of the demands of the teachers, the struggle for Eid bonus and Baisakhi allowance discount has started before Eid. 15 days before Eid, the Directorate of Primary Education has entered the field to collect information. After completing the data collection, the teachers have expressed doubt whether allowances and bonuses can be given before Eid.

Last Monday (April 3), the Deputy Director (Finance) of the Directorate HM Abul Bashar sent a letter to all district education officers asking for seven types of information. The letter sought seven types of information including the number of newly joined teachers in each district, how many teachers received festival allowance during the last Eid-ul-Azha, and the actual number of teachers receiving education allowance.

The teachers said that it will not be possible to collect such information at the last moment and give festival allowance at all. If you don't get this allowance before Eid, there is no precedent for getting it later.

The department officials are blaming the ministry for this. According to them, some information is sought from the Ministry of Finance. As he did not provide the information, the Ministry of Finance did not waive the salary allowance. The ministry says that some errors have been found in the information given by the department. Despite repeated requests for this information, the department could not provide that information. That is why it was not possible to send it to the Ministry of Finance.

Meanwhile, the newly joined teachers are living a miserable life without getting salary allowance. A teacher named Sharmin Akter of Karimganj Upazila of Kishoreganj District said, I joined the job for two and a half months. Not yet paid. Eid ahead. If I don't get the Eid bonus now, how will I show my face in the world?

He said, when asked about the matter from the upazila and education office, they could not give any reply. They say the money has been discounted. But they don't know when the teachers will get their salary. Newly joined teachers are also calling several times asking for their salary details but they are not able to give any specific date.

Officials in the Directorate of Primary Education say that the DPE has waived the salaries of these teachers for the month of January to June. The total discounted amount is 259 crore 57 lakh 11 thousand. Out of this basic salary is about 140 crore 77 lakh, house rent is about 63 crore 51 lakh, medical allowance is about 19 crore 19 lakh, festival allowance is about 26 crore 56 lakh, New Year allowance is about 5 crore 31 lakh, tiffin allowance is about 2 crore 55 lakh. , education allowance about 73 lakhs, travel allowance about seven lakhs 66 thousand and haor/dwip/char allowance about 85 lakhs.

But the Ministry of Finance did not release this money. The department officials are blaming the ministry for this. According to them, some information is sought from the Ministry of Finance. The Ministry of Finance did not release the salary and allowances because he did not provide the information. The Ministry says. Some errors were found in the information provided by the department. Despite repeated requests for this information, the department could not provide that information. That is why it was not possible to send it to the Ministry of Finance.

When asked about this, no official of the budget wing of the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education agreed to comment.

DPUP Director (Finance) HM Abul Bashar said, the information requested from us has been sent to the Ministry of Public Education on time. the

Syeda Nargis Akhtar, education officer of Manikganj's Singair upazila, said that in her upazila, teachers of the revenue sector were given salary bonus, but pre-primary teachers were not given salary. Despite the money allocated to Ibus Plus, it was not possible to pay the salaries of pre-primary teachers due to complications related to the code.
