Jason Ritter says I Didn’t Think I ‘Deserved’ Her
As a longtime fan of both Melanie Lynskey and Jason Ritter, it brought me so much joy when the two ended up together, even if it meant that Lynskey and Jimmi Simpson were no longer together. They remain good friends, however. To wit:
Ritter and Lynskey are fantastic together, and if you’ve ever heard either one of them on a podcast, they will gush about the other. I’ve also heard the story about Jason Ritter forgetting that he had been previously introduced to Melanie Lynskey half a dozen times before they fell in love. I think a lot of that had to do with Ritter’s drinking at the time (he’s also told a number of stories about how his drinking sometimes meant he was hours late for work, which was a terrible imposition to the rest of the cast and crew).
All of which is to say: Ritter may be the sweetest guy on the planet, but he’s not without his faults. He sobered up, however, so that he could be the man that Lynskey deserved, as he explains in this crazy wonderful clip from The Drew Barrymore Show. Watch and try not to cry.
If you missed it a couple of days ago, this is also great: Lynskey joins Barrymore for an Ever After reunion, 25 years after its release. Yes, you are that old.
