Sylheti Mohammad elected councilor of Burgess Hill in Britain

Writer Mohammad Hossain was elected as a councilor from Burgess Hill Town Council. He contested the local elections on 4 May and won the Liberal Democratic Party by a large margin.

Mohammad Hossain got 703 votes. His nearest rival, the ruling Conservative Party candidate, got 358 votes.

Mohammad Hossain is mainly recognized as a writer in Bangladesh and Bile. He has published 16 books.

Mohammad Hossain was born in Buristhala village of Sunamganj suburb. Growing up in Sunamganj city. After completing his education from Government Jubilee High School, Sunamganj Government College, Chittagong Commerce College, he entered the working life. During his student life, he was elected president of Chittagong Government Commerce College Chhatra League.

Besides writing, he is involved in social welfare work. One of his best initiatives was to protect the common and poor people from the tyranny of usurers, the interest and fee-free loan program 'Ja Niba, Ta Diba'.

Mohammad Hossain migrated to Britain permanently in 1999. Apart from running his own business, he is involved in British politics.

Mohammad Hossain said, because he has been associated with local politics for a long time, he has got the love of local people. I will work for them regularly.
