Sudanese repatriated workers will get loan of up to 50 lakh taka
The Ministry of Expatriate Welfare has decided to cooperate in the rehabilitation of workers returned from Sudan. Those workers who are interested in doing business in the country will be given an investment loan of up to Tk 3 lakh without collateral, Tk 5 lakh with co-collateral and up to Tk 50 lakh with collateral from Pravasi Kalyan Bank subject to compliance with the regulations of Bangladesh Bank.
The decision was taken in a meeting at the Expatriate Welfare and Foreign Employment Ministry on Sunday (May 14). Expatriate Welfare and Foreign Employment Minister Imran Ahmed chaired the meeting in the meeting room of the ministry. The senior secretary of the ministry. Ahmed Muniruch Salehin was present.
Among other decisions taken by the ministry, workers who returned to Sudan and want to go abroad again, subject to the necessary qualifications, will be given priority assistance in going to the country of their choice. In particular, the government recruiting agency Boesel will take them on a priority basis in Jordan, South Korea and other countries where it sends workers.
Besides, free skill development/entrepreneurship training/counseling will be provided to interested workers.
In this context, Minister Imran Ahmad said that a database will be prepared within the next 15 working days by communicating with the returned workers for the effective implementation of the initiatives taken for the purpose of rehabilitation. In this regard the in-charge officers of the Wage Earners Welfare Board/concerned District Employment and Manpower Office will contact the returning employees. In this regard, the minister requested all Sudanese returnees to cooperate by providing necessary information.
