Bangabandhu`s 103rd Birth Anniversary Celebration at Maldives
The 103rd birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the National Children's Day were celebrated in Maldives with due dignity.
On the morning of March 17, the High Commissioner officially started the day's program by hoisting the national flag. In the afternoon, a painting competition was organized for expatriate Bangladeshi children living in Maldives.
High Commissioner's wife Naomi Nahrin was present as the chief guest on the occasion. A video on Bangabandhu was screened for children on the occasion. Finally prizes were distributed among the children and the day was celebrated by cutting a cake.
High Commissioner Rear Admiral SM Abul Kalam Azad was present as the chief guest in the evening discussion. At the beginning of the ceremony, a wreath was placed on the portrait of Bangabandhu. Then Maulana Tajul Islam recited the Holy Quran. Then, on the occasion of the day, the speeches of the President, Prime Minister, Foreign Minister and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs were read out to the audience by Third Secretary Chandan Kumar Saha, Administrative Officer Shirin Farzana, Welfare Assistant Al Mamun Pathan and Consular Assistant Moinal Hossain respectively.
Counselor (Labour) gave a welcome speech during the discussion. Sohail Parvez. Then prominent businessman Dulal Matbar and National Bank Money Transfer Ltd gave speeches on behalf of expatriate Bangladeshis on the occasion of Bangabandhu's birthday and Children's Day. Its CEO. Then a documentary on Bangabandhu's biography was shown.
In the speech of the chief guest, the High Commissioner remembered Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, his family and the brave freedom fighters with deep respect. He highlighted the various activities undertaken for the children of Bangabandhu's daughter Prime Minister. He called on everyone to make today's children qualified to build a smart Bangladesh of the future.
At the end of the program, the chief guest and invited guests cut a cake to celebrate Bangabandhu's birthday and Children's Day. At the end, the program ended with the entertainment of the invited guests.
A significant number of expatriate Bangladeshi citizens and mission officials were present on the occasion.
