Bangladeshi student success at community colleges in Michigan
Expatriate Bangladeshi students have achieved great success in the graduation course of Wayne County Community College in Michigan, USA. Parents and students are excited about it. Young professionals are looking for success in the workplace after graduation. Besides, they are getting admission in good quality universities.
Wayne County Community College held its convocation on Saturday (June 10). Most of the students who graduate from the Bangladeshi community are married. Despite being engaged in various professions in pursuit of livelihood, they completed their graduation by studying on the job. He also got success at work. Family members of graduates lined up for decades after receiving their formal degrees.
Selina Kabir Chowdhury sitting in the tenth row of the program said, today my husband is receiving his graduation degree certificate. It's a different feeling. I am really happy.
In this context, Wayne County Community College's Board of Treasury ASM N Rahman said, even a decade ago, the participation of expatriate Bangladeshi professionals in the education system was low. That position has undergone many changes. Alongside the new generation, young professionals are also increasingly participating in education. There are 31 public community colleges in Michigan. Among them, more than 100 Bangladeshi and Arab students have graduated from Wayne County Community College. The convocation was attended by dignitaries including Michigan State Secretary Benson. 1200 graduates and thousands of relatives attended the ceremony.
Graduation degree holder Shazahar Hossain Ahmed said that two-year graduation can be done from community college at an affordable cost. There are financial incentives for meritorious students as well as free tuition for low-income students. Last year his wife Selina Kabir Chowdhury and this year he completed his graduation. No money was needed. Onto got 960 dollars per month as stipend. She is very happy with the certificate in early childhood. After obtaining the degree, his wife Selina Kabir Chowdhury and his job as a teacher.
Ubaidur Rahman's two daughters Shahima Tasmin Rahman and Maysha Tasmin Rahman graduated in General Studies and are studying cyber security at the University of Michigan. Ubaidur Rahman said that parents should make children interested in education and not just run after money. Because our generation is very talented. They are doing very well in exams.
Degree holder Minti Chowdhury came to the convocation ceremony with his family. He is very excited to get the Golden Trussle Medal as the results are good. He said that after completing his graduation, he got a job as a teacher in an elementary school. Menti said that he came to America in 2019 and fell into the corona epidemic and was disappointed. But it feels good to get the graduation certificate.
