Rupok elected as the chairman of GSAAU in Canada

Expatriate Russell Rupak has been elected as the Chairman of the Graduate Student Association of Athabasca University in Alberta, Canada. He is the first Bangladeshi in this position. He was elected to this position by the direct vote of nearly 5,000 student voters of different languages from different countries.

Athabasca University's Graduate Student Association acts primarily as a bridge between the Government of Canada and the university's students. These include supervision of student development activities, scholarships, research and bursaries.

Russell Rupock represents Athabasca University on the Board of Governance as Chair of the Graduate Student Association and is also a member of the Program Review Committee under the Faculty of Science and Technology. He is currently studying Masters of Science in Information Systems and doing a thesis on Artificial Intelligence at the University of Athabasca.

He is also the Chair of Fundraising for the Calgary Fish and Game Association.

With the conviction of humanitarian service, indomitable courage and morale, in 2002 he enrolled in Computer Science at Cape Breton University, Nova Scotia, Canada for advanced education.

Apart from education since childhood, expatriate Russell Rupak has been involved in various service activities of the community. Besides, he helps new students from Bangladesh in various ways.

In addition to continued service to the community, in the future Russell Rupak would like to start a scholarship for new Bangladeshi students. In response to a question, he said, if there is willpower, everything is possible, only morale is needed.

The aim of the future generation, he said, is that there is no alternative to acquiring knowledge, along with that, the talent should be used properly and come forward in the service of the family and the country.

Russell Rupak was born in Charmugaria, Madaripur, Bangladesh. He currently resides in Calgary, Canada and works as an oil and gas technical lead in the energy sector.
