Bangladesh`s 52nd Independence Day celebrations in Portugal
Bangladesh Embassy celebrated the 52nd Independence Day of Bangladesh in Portugal. The day was celebrated in a five-star hotel in the country's capital, Lisbon. Diplomats from different countries of the world participated in it. The participation of the top officials of the Portuguese government in the event is worth seeing.
Isabel Almeida Rodríguez, Secretary of Equality and Immigration of the Government of Portugal, participated in the event and delivered a welcome speech. He said that even after 50 years of independence, we have made a lot of progress in the democratic process between the two countries. But very soon our relations will reach new heights for which we are working on many bilateral issues.
Ambassador Tariq Ahsan cited the presence of Portugal's state secretary and top leaders as an example, saying that their speech and presence as you have noticed is a progress in our new relationship. We are very hopeful that we will be able to reach a successful bilateral relationship on various issues.
At this time, he highlighted various issues of bilateral progress of the past days.
The event was attended by diplomats from our important relations countries such as China, Japan, India and other European countries. In addition, expatriate Bangladeshis of various classes and professions were present.
The demand for the lives of Bangladeshis was also discussed between the two sides at the top level about setting up an embassy of Portugal in Bangladesh or opening a visa consulate. While there is no certainty as to when this will be implemented, both sides have expressed a positive attitude towards its necessity.
It should be noted that bilateral relations with Portugal have improved a lot in the last year. The Parliamentary Friendship Group of Portugal and Bangladesh also signed an agreement on language and cultural exchange with Dhaka University and the Portuguese Isla Luis Camois (Institute for International Cultural Relations). At the end of last year, the two sides had a ministerial and state ministerial visit and a few days ago a memorandum of understanding on bilateral trade was reached.
