Expatriate Bangladeshis celebrate Independence Day in California
The Independence Day of Bangladesh was celebrated on March 18 by the initiative of HBB (Humanity Beyond Barrier; HBB), a city near Sacramento, the capital of the state of California, USA. HBB, an environmental and humanitarian organization, organizes Bangladesh's Independence Day celebrations with a sense of patriotism. Simultaneously, HBB's annual fundraising event was held.
The event started at Veteran Memorial Center Theater on Saturday at 4 pm local time with the inauguration of the 'Freedom Fair'. HBB General Secretary Akeem Kabir inaugurated the fair. Various types of local food, books, local sarees, jewelery and souvenir shops with symbols of Bangladesh participate in the fair.
The overall organization of HBB Director Jawdat Hasan Rahman made the Independence Fair a meeting place for Bangladeshis in Northern California. The second stage was the independence cultural program with the participation of local artists. At this time, the activities of HBB for the last one year were presented. Mrs. Sitara Khan and media personality Anisur Rahman Milan were present as chief guests and special guests. Under the overall supervision of HBB Youth Director Saima Shahid, the teenagers presented their various projects of the past one year.
HBB's acceptance of choosing Independence Day as a positive time to call and encourage people to do something for the country is appreciated by all. At this time, the president of HBB. HBB has been working in the Americas, Asia and Africa since 2015 in environmental and human welfare. The various activities undertaken by HBB since the beginning of the pandemic have been appreciated worldwide.
Every year HBB undertakes various service activities in different regions of Bangladesh. For example, building a school for flood victims, assisting in the construction of a children's paradise in North Bengal, building vehicles for children with special needs, providing oxygen cylinders to corona patients, providing water, providing training to service workers involved in hazardous hospital waste management, assisting natural disaster victims, third gender people in the society. Assistance, assistance in improving the quality of life of marginalized communities, assistance in educational programs for disadvantaged students are currently underway.
