Greece is giving 5 year residence permit to Bangladeshi
As a result of the agreement between Bangladesh and Greece, the European country Greece has finally started giving residence cards to Bangladeshis. So far, five Bangladeshis have received this card for 5 years. Three Bangladeshis received residence cards from the Periphery office in Athens, the capital of Greece.
Later Bangladesh Embassy in the country congratulated them. Earlier, one Bangladeshi from Pirgush Division and another from Rhodes Island got residence permit under this Act.
According to the memorandum of understanding between the two countries, the country's government has started the process of validating 15,000 Bangladeshis who are irregularly staying in Greece, the country of ancient civilization, for five years. To be valid in this process, you have to register at the embassy first. After the registration at the embassy is completed, the embassy will send the applicant's information to the Ministry of Immigration.
After that, you can apply for legalization by going to the online platform of the Ministry of Immigration. About five and a half thousand Bangladeshis have registered at the embassy to be legalized in this process. Among them, about 1500 have applied online. These Bangladeshis who have received residence permit are allowed to live in Greece for 9 months every year.
Bangladesh Ambassador to the country Asud Ahmed, Minister of Embassy Mohammad Khaled, First Secretary Biswajit Kumar Pal exchanged greetings with the recipients of residence cards recently. Bangladesh Community President Abdul Quddus and many others were present at this time.
Asud Ahmad, Ambassador of Bangladesh appointed to Greece at that time, said that as a result of the diplomatic activities of our embassy for two years, we have finally implemented the first phase of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between Bangladesh and Greece. As a result, there is an opportunity for our irregularly settled Bangladeshi expatriates to become legal.
After passing the various stages of the memorandum of understanding and solving all the complexities of the law, finally, the Greek government launched the much-awaited online platform from January 12 of this year. Through this, irregular Bangladeshis living in the country are getting legalization by applying on the online platform. Some have already received 5-year validity cards.
The ambassador also said that many people in Greece have been staying irregularly for a long time and are not able to go to Bangladesh, they are not able to meet their families, they can go to Bangladesh only after getting a temporary resident card.
