E-passport operation launched in Brunei

The e-passport service has been officially launched at the Bangladesh High Commission in Brunei Darussalam. The e-passport service was officially inaugurated at the embassy's temporary office on Wednesday afternoon.

Bangladeshi Ambassador to Brunei Nahida Rahman Sumna presided over the event as Chief Guest was Additional Secretary of Security Services Department of Ministry of Home Affairs Saiful Islam, former Additional Secretary Aslam Iqbal.

Wing Commander Akhtar Uz Zaman (PSC), Deputy Director of E-Passport and Automated Border Control Management Project, Third Secretary of Protocol and Consular Department of Brunei Ministry of Foreign Affairs AK Zularifeen Pengiran Hashim, Deputy Director of Brunei Immigration Haji Hiron bin Haji Abd Rahman were special guests. , Deputy Director of Passport Directorate Manik Chandra Debnath, Bangladesh community leader Shahjalal Masud along with Bangladesh community leaders, passport service recipients and expatriate Bangladeshis of various classes and professions.

The program was moderated by Bangladesh High Commission First Secretary (Labor) and Embassy Chief Abu Bakr Siddique. On the occasion, trial enrollment was completed by successfully installing e-passport system and server at the embassy and e-passport enrollment slips were issued among 5 applicants.

Speakers at the event said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's promise to move Bangladesh further in line with the developed world and as part of building a smart Bangladesh has now become a reality. Through this program, the suffering of expatriate Bangladeshis at the immigration and airport will be reduced a lot. Bangladeshi citizens based in Brunei have expressed their satisfaction over the launch of the e-passport program.
