Genocide Day Observance at Maldives Embassy
Bangladesh High Commission, Maldives celebrated Genocide Day 2023 with due dignity. A discussion program was organized on the occasion of the day.
High Commissioner Rear Admiral SM Abul Kalam Azad was present as the chief guest. The first secretary of the mission was present as a special guest Sohail Parvez.
Maulana Tajul Islam started the program by reciting the Holy Quran. Then Shirin Farzana and Chandan Kumar Saha read out the speeches given by the Prime Minister and the President respectively.
High Commissioner Rear Admiral SM Abul Kalam Azad in his speech paid deep respect to the great architect of freedom Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and martyrs and brave freedom fighters killed in genocide. He expressed hope that one day international recognition and justice will be established for this hellish murder. He requested the expatriate Bangladeshis to carry the spirit of independence and work together to build a developed Smart Bangladesh and Bangabandhu's Sonar Bangla in 2041 as announced by the Prime Minister.
Later a documentary on the genocide was shown. Finally prayers were offered for the souls of the martyrs who died on March 25, 1971 and for the well-being of the country and the nation.
