Iftar at the embassy in honor of expatriate journalists in Italy
Iftar mahfil was held in honor of expatriate journalists in Italy. This event was held in a hall room of the Bangladesh Embassy in Rome on April 6. Ambassador of Bangladesh assigned to Italy on various important contemporary issues. Journalists discussed with Shamim Ahsan.
During the discussion, he answered the questions of the reporters on the improvement of service quality of the embassy, NID card, launch of e-passport, membership of the Wage Earns Board and adherence to proper norms of entry to Italy on seasonal visa. Earlier, when it was time for iftar, the expatriate journalists had iftar with the embassy officials.
Later in the discussion, the ambassador said, you are aware that Bangladesh is moving forward under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and this trend is continuing.
In response to a question about the role of the Italian government in the upcoming 12th parliamentary elections of Bangladesh, the ambassador said that Italy is a friendly country of Bangladesh. Italy continues its long journey with Bangladesh through a good relationship, while also being aware of the upcoming twelfth election.
After that, he said, everyone should know about Italy's seasonal visa that the Italian government has closed Bangladesh's quota for almost eight years. Then in 2020, when the Prime Minister visited Italy, after discussing the matter with the Italian government, Italy re-introduced the seasonal visa in diplomatic activities. As a result, Bangladeshi workers are getting the opportunity to come to Italy for the last two years. If the rules are followed, this road will be open all the time. On the other hand, this year for the first time there is an opportunity to convert seasonal visa in Italy. He also answered many other questions.
The services provided by the embassy in the last year
A list of services provided to expatriate Bangladeshis in 2022 is published. Among them, passport application 17 thousand 827, passport distribution 17 thousand 706, visa 985, NVR (no visa record 2 thousand 151, travel permit 170, various certificates 7 thousand 764, mobile consular service in different cities of Italy in 4 places. In addition, Wage Earners Welfare Board Membership registration 2 thousand 246 people, Airfare payment for 36 expatriate dead bodies, Financial support to 16 organizations including Bengali education programs, 466 Bengali textbooks distributed to various schools, Financial assistance to sick and endangered expatriates, Demand letter verification (Employment of Serbia staff).
Special prayers and prayers are offered at Iftar. Father of the Nation Bangabandhu and four leaders were prayed for, and special prayers were offered for the Prime Minister's health and long life. On the other hand, while talking to the journalists, the ambassador said about the incident of vandalism of Bangladeshis who came to the embassy for passport related issues in August last year, the embassy is a state asset. Here the red-green flag flies, and Bangladesh is represented here. However, in the month of August last year, several Bangladeshis vandalized the chancellor's office of the embassy in the name of correcting passports. A woman's manner of speaking there surprises us. Those involved in this incident are unforgivable. Journalists from print, online and electronics media were present at the Iftar ceremony. Among others, Embassy Chief Jasim Uddin, First Secretary Saiful Islam (Passport Department), Asif Anam Siddiqui (Labor Welfare), First Secretary Ayesha and Asfaq were present.
