Bangladesh High Commission celebrated Mujibnagar Day in Brunei
The Bangladesh High Commission in Brunei celebrated the historic Mujibnagar Day with due respect and dignity.
On Monday (April 17) morning, an informal event was organized by the Bangladesh High Commission in the presence of expatriate Bangladeshis staying in Brunei.
Bangladesh High Commissioner to Brunei Nahida Rahman Sumna hoisted the national flag of Bangladesh while playing the national anthem of Bangladesh at the beginning of the program. After that, recitation from the Holy Qur'an and a minute of silence was observed, praying for the peace of the souls of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family members, four national leaders and martyrs, and wishing for the future welfare and prosperity of Bangladesh. After that, the Bangladesh High Commissioner offered a wreath to the portrait of the Father of the Nation. He read out the message sent by the President and Prime Minister of Bangladesh on the occasion of the historic Mujibnagar Day. A documentary on the historical background and events of Mujibnagar Day was shown to all present.
Bangladesh High Commissioner Nahida Rahman Sumna highlighted the historical significance of Mujibnagar Day to all present. In his speech, he paid deep respect to the Father of the Nation and four national leaders- Syed Nazrul Islam, Tajuddin Ahmad, Captain Muhammad Mansoor Ali and Abul Hasnat Muhammad Kamaruzzaman.
Calling Father of the Nation Bangabandhu as the best Bengali of all time, Nahida Rahman Sumna said in her speech that the formation, swearing and activities of the Provisional Government of Bangladesh at Baidyanathtala in Meherpur played an incomparable role in the liberation war and freedom struggle of Bangladesh. Bangabandhu's strong leadership and immense courage were the main driving forces of the Liberation War. Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the hero of that great epic, inspired and united the entire Bengali nation in the spirit of Bengali nationalism and the spirit of independent and sovereign Bangladesh and defeated the mighty Pakistani invading forces through nine months of bloody liberation war.
He also said that in the 52 years of independence, Bangladesh has achieved tremendous development. Today, Bangladesh has gained the status of a developing country from a less developed country. Bangladesh is a role model in women empowerment today. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the worthy daughter of Bangabandhu, Bangladesh has progressed far in many fields including education, health, agriculture, energy and information technology. He strongly believes that under his strong leadership, Bangladesh will join the ranks of upper-middle-income countries by 2031 and developed countries by 2041. He urged everyone to work tirelessly with honesty and dedication to make the Prime Minister's initiative to build a 'Smart Bangladesh' a success.
