A unique production by Anandhara Arts in London

Anandhara Arts in the UK has been consistently practicing Bengali music and Bengali culture for a long time. Not only running a music school, but also listening to good Bengali songs and performing different kinds of Bengali songs. They have always maintained this consistency in their every arrangement.

On the eve of Rabindra Jayanti, Anandhara Arts organized 'Paschimer Rabi' at London's Richmix Auditorium on April 30. In Rabindranath's life, the influence of Western art, literature and music and his idea of mixing and matching created a bridge of connection with the world outside India. This communication has created a new direction for us in the future. Just as Rabindranath Tagore brought the light of the outside world to India, he also presented the Indian philosophy and culture at the world meeting. Both ends are enriched through this mutual exchange.

From his first trip to Europe, Rabindranath carefully brought back some tunes along with many other collections. He created some wonderful songs by mixing the western music with the western music atmosphere, which have become a part of his music library.

For the first time in the UK, Anandhara Arts presents an extraordinary performance combining these old songs with original English songs performed and recited at the Richmix Auditorium. The audience filled to the brim was impressed by this wonderful event. The presence of London's elite made the event even richer. At the end of the event, the artistes-artists and the entire Anandhara Arts family expressed their emotions, sincere congratulations and best wishes. UK's leading classical musician Mrs. Chandra Chakraborty said that it is an absolute privilege for the audience of this country to be able to enjoy such an extraordinary event on the soil of abroad. In the words of renowned writer-researcher Golam Murshid, 'We are all overwhelmed by such an extraordinary event.'

Director of Anandhara Arts, Imtiaz Ahmed said, 'I have planned this event for a long time. We presented this production for the first time in Chittagong and Dhaka, Bangladesh. There too it was well received, garnering praise. This is the first presentation of Western instrumentalists in London. We want to present it in different parts of the world including Europe.

A group of about 30 members of children of Anandhara Arts and Western classical artists Urbi Madhura, Purba Adhara and famous Rabindra musician Imtiaz Ahmed, director of Anandhara Arts, combined this performance as a unique signature of Rabindranath's music practice abroad. The arrangement was made by Amit Dey on piano, Ami Islam on bass guitar, Tanzil Tahmid on acoustic guitar, Mariana Hardistry on cello, Varida Farid and Maggie Snow on violin, Jameer Jamil on viola and Tanim Haque on drums. And the reciter Samar Saha impressed the audience with his harmonious reading. Anandhara Arts UK sincerely regrets that many interested spectators had to turn away due to lack of seating for such a worthwhile event.
