An Evening of Nazrul Sangeet celebration in Canada
The expatriate Bengalis of Calgary, Canada remembered the poet Kazi Nazrul Islam to preserve the true identity of Bengali ethnicity and Bengaliana from generation to generation and to create a bridge with the culture, history and tradition of modern Bengal.
On the occasion of Kazi Nazrul Islam's birthday, 'Nazrul Sangeet Sandhya' was celebrated with colorful arrangements at the Falconridge Community Center in Calgary on Saturday evening. Through this, the national poet of Bangladesh of equality, rebellion and love is remembered.
Musician Khairul Anam Shakeel, General Secretary of Bangladesh Nazrul Sangeet Sanstha and Vice President of Chhaynat Sangeet Vidyathan, joined the Nazrul evening to commemorate this happy moment of expatriates.
At this time of the year in snowy Canada, nature wakes up with a new look, but there is a sense of excitement and restlessness in nature. New forms in the trees around. In such an environment, artist Shakil Nazrul caught his voice, Calgary's Falconridge Community Center danced to his voice. He tied the listeners and viewers with garlands of melody and words.
While the day may seem traditional in the multi-communal country of Canada, it was completely different for Bengalis in the diaspora. A sweet evening full of emotion-feeling-excitement, as if surrendering and revealing oneself to Nazrul's love.
Coming out of the monotonous life of work, the diaspora Bengalis touched each other with the garland of melody and words. In the land of exile, 'Abar Loves Sadh Jagae', 'Laili Tomar Alayhi Firiya Majnu Go Ankhi Kholo', 'Aaslo Jehta Phule Phagun Gulbaghe Phule Chai Biday' - retrace those days to the tune of these songs.
Hearts and minds were filled with music-loving men and women in a meeting of a different kind of love. Organizers hope that 'Najrul Sandhya' will enrich the practice of motherland and Bengali culture among expatriates.
