Restructuring new committee of Sylheti Association of Calgary

A special extended meeting of the Association was held at the temporary office of the Sylhet Association of Calgary, Calgary North East, Canada.

The meeting was held on Thursday at 6:30 pm local time under the chairmanship of prominent community figure Rupak Dutt and moderated by Zubair Siddiqui.

In the meeting, the current general secretary Kois Chowdhury was congratulated by the association for being elected as the president of Bangladesh Canada Association of Calgary.

According to the obligation of the constitution, all the members present in the meeting agreed for the election of the new member secretary as there are some limitations in performing the duties of Kois Chowdhury as the general secretary.

Eminent columnist and sociological analyst Md. with the spontaneous support of all the members present at the introduction of prominent community personality Kiran Vanik Shankar. A unanimous decision was taken to elect Mahmud Hasan as General Secretary. On this occasion, association president Rupak Dutt, outgoing general secretary Qais Chowdhury, distinguished engineer Mohammad Kadir, Kiran Banik Shankar, Jhumak Dutt, Zubair Siddiqui and all present congratulated the newly elected general secretary.

In this special extended meeting, a special discussion was held on the previous year's activities of the association. All those present expressed their satisfaction with the effective role of the Sylhet Association in assisting the victims of the catastrophic floods of Greater Sylhet in 2022.

It was unanimously decided to hold the association's annual banquet on Saturday 29th July. On the same day, Zubair Siddiqui received the Queen Elizabeth Award, Engineer Mohammad Qadir was elected as the Chairperson of the Alberta Professional Engineers Association and Qais Chowdhury was elected as the President of the BCAOC.
