Two Bangladeshi students made history in UK

Recently, two Bangladeshi students were elected in the student union elections at the University of Gloucestershire. More than ten thousand students are studying in the university.

The selected Bangladeshis are - Engineers Aminul Islam Rana and MM Rajeev.

It is known that Rajiv, elected in the student union, will mainly work with black Asian or minor groups. And Rana will represent the university in the National Students Union. Where two representatives from around 150 universities in England will attend the national conference and elect the national leader. If he can be elected as the leader of the students of whole Britain, it will be a unique achievement in the history of Bangladesh.

This election of student union was held from May 16 to May 18. Every day from 10 am to 3 pm students cast their votes by attending the voting center. And the results of the election were published on May 19 between 12 noon and 5 pm.

Bangladeshi, African and South Asian students from all walks of life are greeting the chosen ones. The university was established in 1847. And after 24 years this university will complete 200 years. In the history of 200 years, two Bengali students have never won student union elections at the same time.

According to those concerned, it will be a unique history and will show courage and guidance to future students who will come to study here.

Aminul Islam Rana is a former student of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology and Dhaka University. Prior to moving to the UK for higher education, he was engaged in the education sector in Bangladesh and lastly spent several years as an IT engineer at the head office of Standard Bank Limited.

Besides, MM Rajeev was employed as a senior officer of BRAC Bank and Premier Bank before coming to UK. He has served in risk management with great reputation and is studying for master's degree in international management. He is a resident of Manohardi Upazila of Narsingdi.
