Bangladeshi expats in UAE started getting NID cards
National identity card issuance program for UAE expatriates has started. The program was inaugurated on Tuesday (May 30) with the distribution of National Identity Cards (NIDs) to eight expatriates on a trial basis at the Bangladesh Consulate in Dubai.
If this program is successful in the country, Bangladesh Election Commission will provide NID in about 40 countries. Election Commission Secretariat Director General AKM Humayun Kabir told this information in the exchange meeting organized on the occasion of the inauguration of NID program.
He said that if the national identity card is issued along with the passport, the problems of expatriates will be reduced.
AKM Humayun Kabir said in the speech of the chief guest that today the country is prosperous and has progressed far. The government provides many facilities to expatriates. The work of issuing national identity cards is going on rapidly. Trying to solve the technical problem. However, expatriates have to apply online with correct information.
Consul General of Dubai and Northern Emirates BM Jamal Hossain presided over the exchange of views. Brigadier General Abul Hasnat, Senior Secretary Foreign Affairs Ministry Sarwar Alam spoke in it.
During this, the online application process for NID was shown to expatriates through the projector.
